The science

B12 + B6: We promote a plant-based diet and lots of our customers are vegetarian or vegan. B12 and B6 deficiencies are common with vegetarians and vegans as animal products are the main natural sources for these nutrients. B vitamins are essential for energy and immunity, so it's fair to say they're important.

Plant-based protein: Protein provides important amino acids (you can read about the importance of these above). High protein diets are popular due to protein being a way to fill you up, whilst maintaining a health blood sugar level. However, if you're keen to understand how much you actually need a day, protein recommendations are based on roughly how much we need to eat to cover our needs for these various amino acids. Most healthy adults need about 0.8 to 1.0 gram of protein per kilogram of body weight. Since 1 kilogram is equivalent to 2.2 pounds, a 150-pound person (68.2 kilograms) needs about 55 to 68 grams of protein per day. We offer a mix of Hemp and Pea protein. Hemp protein is packed with plant protein and fibre, but is a little gritty texture. Pea protein is a versatile plant-based protein with a mild taste and texture. Both of these proteins are hypoallergenic. If you're vegan or vegetarian, we recommend rotating between this add on and the amino acids, so you're getting the full range of aminos.

Probiotics: help balance your "good" and "bad" bacteria to help maintain good digestive health. Gut health is linked to so many areas of health, including mental health. The gut is referred to as the second brain and is responsible for 85% of our serotonin production (the happy hormone) which is why we offer probiotics as an add on in our protein balls.
